FAQ About Annual Physical Exam

What are the early symptoms of pulmonary disease?

Early signs often include persistent cough, mild shortness of breath, and frequent colds. CoreMed Plus recommends prompt evaluation and spirometry testing if you notice these changes.

What is the difference between COPD and asthma?

COPD is usually progressive and linked to smoking, while asthma involves reversible airway inflammation and can start at any age. CoreMed Plus accurately diagnoses and manages both conditions.

Can pulmonary disease be cured?

Some conditions like infections are curable, while chronic diseases like COPD are managed rather than cured. Early intervention at CoreMed Plus can significantly slow progression and improve symptoms.

How does smoking affect pulmonary disease?

Smoking is the leading cause of COPD and worsens nearly all lung conditions. Our smoking cessation support at CoreMed Plus helps patients quit successfully.

What tests are used to diagnose pulmonary disease?

Common tests include spirometry (pulmonary function test), chest imaging, and blood oxygen measurement. CoreMed Plus performs many of these tests conveniently in-office.

What lifestyle changes help with pulmonary disease?

Quitting smoking, regular exercise, breathing techniques, healthy diet, and avoiding triggers deliver the biggest improvements. CoreMed Plus creates realistic plans for each patient.

Dr. Mark Richter Bio

I grew up in Florida as the oldest of five sons. After earning my degree from the University of Florida, I pursued my medical education in the Dominican Republic. In 1988, I began my Family Practice Residency at the “old” Pontiac General Hospital. I have been providing medical care to the same community since 1991, first in Waterford and later at our current location in White Lake, where I continue to practice today. I take pride in being board certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians and remain committed to Primary Care. I am passionate about promoting a healthy lifestyle, including a proper “balanced” diet, exercise, exposure to healthy outdoor activities, and achieving work-life balance. I married my Medical School Sweetheart, Barbara, and we are fortunate to have two adult children and a granddaughter. We have been residents of Oakland County since 1988 and enjoy all that Michigan has to offer.
